The last two actual vacation days in Thailand: Together with Rafael I went for Ko Phi Phi, this ‘famous’ island off Krabi and Phuket. And a day later, when Rafael and Petra were on their way back to Bangkok, I did a last day of diving, again off Ko Phi Phi. Ko Phi Phi became especially famous after the movie “The Beach” had been produced on one of the beaches of Ko Phi Phi, although the book itself (I’m reading it at the moment) describes an island on Thailand’s east coast, off Ko Samui. Ao Nang (I) 4 Islands
Ao Nang is a beach near Krabi on the Thai mainland. Krabi was on our list of places to visit. Rafael and Petra actually have flights back to Bangkok from there, so we had to get (near) there anyway. And Ao Nang was a recommendation we got on Ko Samui (from the guy who helped me home after my successful experience of the gap in the time continuum). Continue reading Ao Nang (I) 4 Islands
Bangkok (II) Even More to See
Friday, 26-OCT
We had a lot of sightseeing options in mind. Not too many for a day…but we really only saw just one of them. Just because we walked, and found markets or photo objects, and more markets. And something to eat. But then no ferry, but a king’s barge…naja…things like that, which just happen.
We set out from our hotel towards the Amulet Market. Not anything I would choose, but in the end I was quite delighted by just strolling though the narrow ways, though I didn’t fancy checking out any of the millions of amulets there. Some locals actually bring magnifiers to study the details. And apparently there are series of magazines covering amulets. Must be a big business for some… Continue reading Bangkok (II) Even More to See
Bangkok (I) So Many Sights to See
“One Night in Bangkok…”, and another one, and two more, until our small group of four was complete. With Rafael I had spent two easy days drinking coffee, eating breakfast, lunch, and dinner, drinking more coffee, and finishing up my Bhutan articles. Only very few sightseeing involved. With Petra arriving on Thursday we intensified sightseeing, and kept going with the coffee, breakfast, lunch, and dinner 😉 Zhang Bing was the last one to arrive in the early morning of the day we had chosen to leave Bangkok for Ko Samui. Bangkok – Stop-over
Bangkok, Thailand…so much said about it everywhere, what shall I add? This document is just a sign of life. I arrived yesterday afternoon from Siem Reap, checked into my nice hotel and directly ventured out to the main modern shopping area around Siam Square with its shopping centers. I had some things to organize in Bangkok: Continue reading Bangkok – Stop-over
Future Plans: Cambodia, Bhutan, Thailand
Plans are becoming more and more clear: There is the already fixed date of 12-OCT through 23-OCT in Bhutan. Around that I planned a Thailand trip of about 2 weeks with two friends, which now is added after Bhutan. In order not to extend too far into the year I will likely visit Cambodia before going to Bhutan. One of the countries has to be the one on the edge of the raining season…
After Thailand there might be time for a quick look into Malaysia and Singapore. Continue reading Future Plans: Cambodia, Bhutan, Thailand
